Steffanie DotsonMy passion for making objects ultimately stems from a desire to find balance. I am most content when I’m working with my hands, and have a desire to gain knowledge and investigate with each project or design. My work is inspired by my travels, research, and by indigenous cultures. I have a specific interest in exploring patterns and color because these are elements that create stories within a design. With an appetite for learning new techniques and exploring materials, I work to understand myself and the things that make me feel complete. Finding balance and pleasure within the layers of one’s self is a constant challenge that I don’t expect to solve, but hope to keep learning about. Of course, balance cannot be had without a certain dedication to a holistic lifestyle, and this plays an important role in my life.

Since nature is a significant source of inspiration in my designs, I feel I owe it to her to be conscious of what and how I create. I strive to create minimal waste in my processes and work mostly with locally harvested woods, recycled or repurposed materials
